Meditation, which has been practiced for thousands of years, is a multi-level exercise where the object is to transform your mind and body into a calm and centered state. It uses focusing to bring attention away from thoughts and other distractions to the breath or to bring attention to some other neutral activity, like a mantra so that our experience is not dictated by our emotions but by a peaceful calmness.
Regular meditation has been shown to lower blood pressure, increase mental ability, and lower the cortisol level (the hormone connected with stress). Lowering the cortisol level can help lower weight. In addition, meditation helps fight inflammation, lower pain and helps with infertility.
