If we start setting ourselves up for success rather than attach to all our failures, won’t each morning feel a little brighter? Happy thinking!
Being Kind to Ourselves
We hear more and more people (loved ones, clients, people in public) focusing on the one thing they “need” to be happy that they just can’t seem to get. “If only my mother loved me more…”. “If only I got my dream job…”. “If only I could loose those last 10 pounds…”. We make these rules for ourselves; these things seem necessary to make us happy, but they ignore all that we have done and all we can do for ourselves that actually brings more joy than we thought possible. It’s important to set goals that we can actually get, so the message we give ourselves are positive and encouraging! Rather than, “I need to lose 10 pounds to be happy again”, why not say “I’ll take a long walk with the dog this evening- It’s good exercise and I’ll get to spend time outside.”
